There are many types of aquaponics fish you can uses in your aquaponics garden. Fish that are commonly uses in an aquaponics gardening system include the tilapia, koi and other omnivorous fish species. These fish breed quickly and can tolerate high stocking densities. Of course fish such as the tilapia are edible and taste great. They can be harvested two or three times a year. So what do you feed your aquaponics fish ? You can either use commerical aquaponics fish feed or home grown fish feed. Home grown will likely be cheaper but buying fish feed may be more convenient. You can of course combine both. There are several excellent home grow food sources for you fish. These include duckweed, worms, black solder fly larvae, kitchen left-overs and garden scrap.   Many commerical grade aquaponic food are created for these aquaponics fish and very in protein content, depending on the product and the age of the your aquaponics  fish the product is targeted for.
